Sometimes I eat work for breakfast (although, I’m working on fixing that) because the very thought of optimization fuels me like an oat milk iced latte. I get just as excited in meetings to discuss new business opportunities as I do learning about server-side rendering.

“But Kelly, how did you get here?”
Goodness, I’m so glad you asked. My curiosity for building webpages developed from a young age where pirating software on Limewire was common (sorry!) and HTML/CSS was popping off with marquees and blinkees. Luckily we’re passed those days and now we’re building headless WordPress CMSs with unlimited artboards in Figma.
Initially in Milwaukee, WI, I was a designer/developer for a .NET shop and freelanced building WordPress websites on the side. I started a company at 21 to help like-minded people meet each other. It failed. I was green. I moved to Los Angeles, CA and joined an entertainment agency designing and building websites for movies and celebrities, such as Cindy Crawford, Ashley Tisdale, and TMNT. From there I hopped into healthcare and joined a marketing team to design every inch of marketing materials under the sun, while also learning the importance of UX design for lead optimization. It was my first time working for a startup, and I quickly ramped up my skills.
Fast-forward through a few more startups and agencies until I landed at TerraTrue, where I was able to test all of my skills as their first design hire where I designed the product from the ground-up and taught myself ReactJS. In two years, the team raised at $15M Series A, and I decided it was time to begin my own business. In 2020, I opened Heartcore Studio, a web design agency that prioritizes the client experience. I have worked with tech startups, ecommerce businesses, corporate marketing firms, influencers, attorneys, and agencies to either build a website from scratch, strategize digital solutions, or drive their next marketing campaign from a design perspective.
